The "İlerici Gençler Derneği, IGD" (English: Progressive Youth Association,
PYA) was established on January 5, 1976 and it was the youth organization of the
Communist Party of Turkey (TKP).
The
organization was banned on November 6, 1979 by the "İstanbul Sıkıyönetim
Komutanlığı" (English: Istanbul Martial Law Command), but continued its
activities until the September 12, 1980 military coup d'etat. The İGD underwent
a number of organizational changes during the military regime as the youth wing
of the TKP, which was dissolved in a series of mergers after forming the United
Communist Party of Turkey (TBKP) together with the Workers' Party of Turkey
(TİP), joining a new legal Socialist Unity Party in the early 1990s.

of the time, he colors are most likely a red horizontal background with the
organization's initials (in Turkish) in white capitals in the middle.
